Food is a big issue when travelling. And even on a camping holiday, it definitely doesn't have to be ravioli and goulash from a can. In this article we reveal our 5 favourite camping dishes - delicious and easy to cook.


Before you start your camping trip, you should familiarise yourself with the equipment of your camper. Of course, basic cooking utensils such as a gas cooker, cooking pots, plates and crockery should not be missing. You'll find a list showing the equipment of the kitchen in our vehicles in the detailed description of each camper. If necessary, you can bring your own spices, vinegar and oil.

Pasta with tomato-ricotta sauce

One of our favourite camping dishes! More than just pasta with tomato sauce and super easy to prepare in the camper.
Ingredients
  • 250 g pasta
  • 1 onion
  • 2 garlic cloves
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 3 - 4 tbsp tomato paste
  • 250 g canned tomatoes, strained
  • 100 g ricotta
  • 1 rosemary sprig
  • Salt & pepper
  • A pinch of sugar
  • 1 mozzarella ball
  • Optional: Parmesan cheese
Preparation
First prepare the pasta according to the package instructions. Then peel, clean and finely chop the onion and garlic. Fry them in a pan with a little olive oil. Then add the tomato paste, stir and add the canned tomatoes. Add the rosemary sprig and season with salt, pepper and a pinch of sugar. This should now be left to boil down for around 10 minutes.
Then remove the rosemary from the sauce and fold in the ricotta. In the next step, the pasta is also mixed into the sauce.
Now arrange the pasta with the tomato-ricotta sauce and serve with fresh mozzarella. Optionally, you can refine the dish with Parmesan cheese.

One Pot Lentils with Feta Cheese

One-pot meals have become indispensable for camping. Simply put vegetables, spices, herbs, noodles and liquid in a pot, put the lid on, stir from time to time and you're done. Simple and fast cooking. What more could you want?
Ingredients
  • 2-3 peppers, yellow and red
  • 1-2 onions
  • 2 garlic cloves
  • 300 g beluga lentils
  • 2-3 small courgettes
  • 250 g small cherry tomatoes
  • 600 ml vegetable stock or water
  • 1 bunch flat-leaf parsley
  • Leaves of 5-6 mint sprigs
  • Salt
  • Pepper
  • ½ tsp maple syrup
  • 150 g feta cheese, coarsely crumbled.
Preparation
First, dice the onions, garlic, peppers, courgettes and tomatoes and put them in a large pot with the lentils and stock. Mix well and bring to the boil while stirring. Then simmer the One Pot lentils in the closed pot over low - medium heat for 30 minutes. Keep stirring from time to time so it doesn't burn.
At the end of the cooking time, add the finely chopped parsley and mint leaves and season the dish with salt and pepper. If a little sweetness is still missing, add a little bit of maple syrup. Arrange the lentils on plates and serve sprinkled with feta cheese.

One Pot Pasta with Spinach & Gorgonzola

Such delicious and creamy pasta easily prepared in just one pot.
Ingredients
  • 2 tbsp pine nuts
  • 1 shallot
  • 2 garlic cloves
  • 300 ml vegetable stock
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 200 g cream
  • 250 g spaghetti
  • 125 g baby leaf spinach
  • 50 g Gorgonzola cheese
  • Salt
  • Pepper
Preparation
First, roast the pine nuts in a saucepan without adding any oil until golden brown. Remove them and set aside.
Then peel the shallot and garlic and cut into small cubes. Next, heat the olive oil in the pot and fry the shallot and garlic briefly. Then deglaze with stock and cream and add the spaghetti. Simmer over medium heat for 10 minutes. Stir in between.
Then wash and dry the spinach leaves. Cut the gorgonzola into small pieces.
Finally, add the spinach leaves and the gorgonzola to the pot and stir in. Let it simmer for another 2 minutes. Finally, season with salt and pepper. Done!

Pan Pizza

Quite unusual but soooo tasty. Pan pizza is a great camping dish and should not be missing on your trip!
Ingredients
Ingredients for the dough
  • 275 g flour
  • 130 ml water
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
Ingredients for the sauce
  • 1 can peeled tomatoes
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • Pepper
  • Salt
  • 2 tbsp balsamic vinegar
  • 2 cloves garlic
Ingredients for the topping
  • Basil leaves
  • 1 mozzarella ball
  • Parmesan cheese
Preparation
First, mix all the ingredients for the dough until smooth. Also mix all the ingredients for the sauce and puree if necessary.
Then heat a large frying pan and add the olive oil. Now knead the dough well again and roll it out to the size of the pan. The edge of the pan must be covered by about 2 cm. Bake the pizza base until it is firm and has a light brown colour.
In the meantime, you can add the toppings. You can use salami, ham or mushrooms - whatever you like. Roughly chop the basil and sprinkle it over the pizza. You can also sprinkle mozzarella and parmesan cheese over the pizza. Done!
