Holiday planning? We can. Our travel designers
Article from Elinor
The Off Guide is your personalised travel guide - only better.
Our travel designers take pretty much all the planning out of your holiday and put together your own personal itinerary, including places, activities, campsites and restaurants, in line with your wishes and needs. Your trip, designed just the way you like it. And since none of the recommendations are booked by us for you, you still remain flexible. Here are a few small previews of what the whole thing could look like in the end.
The Off Guide can be selected as an extra when you book an Off Camper for €12 per day of your trip, but you can also book it as a stand-alone product without hiring a camper from us. As you like.
So much for the product - but who are these travel designers who plan the perfect holiday for you? It's high time we introduced them to you.
Our team behind the Off Guide - the Off Travel Designers
Julia D. - our expert for the Balkan Peninsula & the best restaurants
‘I would say I have a knack for discovering sweet, authentic restaurants. In my opinion, there's no better way to immerse yourself in a country's culture than through its cuisine.’
What is your favourite camping destination?
I have totally fallen in love with the Balkan region. For me, the perfect holiday is always a mixture of mountains and sea. For me, there's nothing better than going on a long mountain hike and then spending a few relaxing days by the sea. My boyfriend's family is from Serbia and I always love to immerse myself in the culture, get to know the country and its people and admire the (often still undiscovered) nature - even if the Balkans unfortunately often have a huge rubbish problem.
What do you love about camping?
The connection to nature and not knowing what's coming next. Camping is associated with so much excitement - I never get enough of that.
You can never go camping without...
My bike, so I can be mobile even without a camper, and sharp knives. I hate nothing more than cutting with blunt knives.
What are you an expert in?
Because of my connection to the Balkans, I feel totally at home there and know my way around very well. What's more, there are still some real hidden gems to discover there - even if that might not be the case for much longer, as the region is becoming increasingly popular.
As a trained chef, cuisine is also eeeeeeextremely important to me! I would say I have a knack for discovering sweet, authentic eateries. In my opinion, there's no better way to immerse yourself in a country's culture than through its cuisine.
Where does your expertise for your job and your speciality come from?
I've always enjoyed travelling the world a lot, so it made sense to turn my passion into a career. I studied tourism management in Munich and worked as a travel designer in a start-up while I was there - I haven't looked back since. I love planning my own trips, but also helping friends, family and our customers make the most of their holidays. Not everyone feels passionate about travel planning - many find it more of a chore. I like to take advantage of that ;)
What's the best thing about your job?
Being able to help customers plan the best time of the year. And also being able to work in the best team in the whole world. I love the passion of the girls - girl power at its best. 🧡
Julia S. - our expert for camping with dogs & Italy
‘As we're usually out and about with our dog, I'm always happy to share useful tips regarding them.’
What is your favourite camping destination?
Italy, Croatia and anywhere by the sea.
What do you love about camping?
I love being able to just go for it and explore new places and countries at my own pace. I also love the simplicity of everyday camping life: simple, uncomplicated, decelerated and close to nature.
You can never go camping without...
My camera, mocha, a good book, my yoga mat and my dog Maggie. 🐶
What are you an expert on?
I'm particularly fond of Italy! Especially the areas around Lake Garda, the Dolomites and Tuscany. But the beautiful, crystal-clear Adriatic coast of Croatia is also one of my favourite destinations when it comes to camping.
As we're usually travelling with our dog, I'm always happy to provide useful tips for this in particular.
Where does your expertise for your job and your speciality come from?
For as long as I can remember, I have been travelling with my family every summer, camping in Italy or on the Adriatic coast of Croatia.
Travelling to faraway countries and immersing myself in foreign cultures has always been one of my greatest passions. I also love planning road trips for myself and others - which is exactly why I wanted to turn this passion for travelling into a career.
As I've always been fascinated by Italy (and I found my Romeo there early on), it was always clear to me that I wanted to go to Italy at some point. I therefore completed my degree in Sports, Event and Tourism Management at the Free University of Bozen-Bolzano in South Tyrol. During this time, I was able to spend a lot of time travelling around the country and therefore know both the well-known and lesser-known corners.
What is the best thing about your job?
No two routes are the same, which is why the work never gets boring and you're constantly inspired. I also particularly like it when your own enthusiasm rubs off on your customers and you read about their great experiences afterwards.
Steffi - our expert for mountains in Europe & cute cafés
‘My favourite place to be is in the mountains. Whether in Norway, Tyrol or Slovenia - I now know many beautiful places here.’
What is your favourite camping destination?
Anywhere where there are mountains!
What do you love about camping?
Pressing the pause button once and collecting jam jar moments in nature. ✨
Never go camping without...
Hiking boots, a head torch for sunrise tours, a good book and delicious camping food.
What are you an expert at?
My favourite place to be is in the mountains. Whether in Norway, Tyrol or Slovenia - I know a lot of beautiful places here. And because spending time in nature makes you hungry, I'm always on the lookout for the sweetest cafés in the area.
Where does your expertise for your job and your speciality come from?
From an early age, I was lucky enough to be able to explore Europe with my family in a campervan. Since I couldn't get enough of travelling, I worked as a freelancer in the travel industry before joining Off. In my free time, I travelled on road trips, but also professionally and during my studies in Innsbruck, I got to know the most diverse (mountain) destinations in Europe and lost my heart to some of them.
What is the best thing about your job?
Supporting our customers in planning their adventures and living out my own passion with a wonderful team at work.
