Not in the mood for crowded campsites? Here you'll find our collection of the most beautiful private camping sites near Stuttgart!
In June and July almost everyone in Germany wants to on holiday and of course you start thinking about the perfect destination. No one wants to compromise or even be disappointed in the end during the most beautiful and, above all, warmest weeks of the year. For this very reason, more and more people tend to choose a camper as the perfect holiday companion. The advantages are obvious: not only is the pitch quickly set up for any number of days, the flexibility that comes with a home on 4 wheels is absolutely unbeatable. Why travel to just one place when you can see so much more of the beautiful world?
However, disillusionment often sets in when you arrive at the campsite. Overcrowded campsites can quickly overshadow the idyll and expectation that formed in our minds. But don't worry, because there is a solution for this: private camper and motorhome sites! These offer a great location, peace and quiet and other extras. For this reason, we would like to introduce you to a few of these highlights. Destination: the camper and motorhome-friendly Stuttgart region. With a unique environment consisting of vineyards, forests and rivers, nothing stands in the way of a perfect holiday.
1. The ´Stückle auf der Lug`
This campsite which is suitable for campers or motorhomes (no excess length) lies in the heart of Swabia. In this oasis of well-being about 27 kilometres north of Stuttgart your host Annegret is waiting to give you a guided tour of this dreamlike campsite. It doesn't matter whether you're just passing through or prefer to take your time and take it easy: If you're looking for a secluded spot for yourself or the whole family the Lug is the place to be. The campsite and everything it has to offer is quite impressive. A pond with a garden hut and a fireplace await you. A large meadow with enough space for fun and games and even an outhouse.
Unfortunately, the meadow itself is not accessible by camper but you can stand right next to it and enjoy access to the meadow and pond. There is even an outdoor kitchen next to the hut which you can use in case the camper's own kitchenette reaches its limits. Firewood for the daily campfire is also provided by the host family. All in all, this is the perfect campsite. And on top of that, a great starting point for hiking, cycling or trips to Stuttgart.
2. Idyllic stay in an orchard at the ´bus farm`
Wake up in the morning, stick your head out of the rooftop tent or window and there's nothing but fruit trees, cows and even horses as far as the eye can reach. This thought should make every camperheart beat faster. At the height of the Swabian forest lies the bus farm between meadows, forests and fields. If you want to visit, you can expect a pitchthat lies slightly higher than the farm itself which of course benefits the view. You can probably see the advantages of booking a private pitch compared to conventional campsites for caravans or camper vans now: your pitch extends over 100sqm and is therefore larger than some gardens.
The only things missing are electricity and a shower as you're in the middle of nature. There's still fresh water you can take with you and a toilet within reach. Four-legged friends are also welcome upon request. If you want to you can also help out on the farm. For a small fee, assistance can be provided on the dairy farm and there are horse riding lessons. You can also enjoy some amazing food here: milk, honey, eggs and meat produced on the farm can be purchased. The farm is located about 40 kilometres northeast of Stuttgart in Sulzbach an der Murr. It's definitely worth a visit!
3. Relax among the vines in Brackenheim
If you're on the road in Baden-Württemberg you can't miss out on a trip to a vineyard. That's why we're happy to send you to Brackenheim which is located north of Stuttgart and offers the largest vineyard area in all of Württemberg. Here, Claudia awaits you with a beautiful pitch on her winery. You may settle right among the vines. From there you can enjoy the idyllic atmosphere thanks to an amazing view over the neighboring vineyards. We recommend to taste the red wine from their own production.
The selection is also quite impressive because even for the little guests homemade grape juice is provided. The adjacent ´Besenwirtschaft` (an tavern run seasonally by the winemaker himself) also offers typical Swabian dishes. A little bonus on top: the pitch itself is provided free of charge. Only the service fee is of course passed on to the visitor. Therefore, a visit of the tavern is hightly recommended and worth it.
4. Wine and water in Aspach
Those who need a bathing facility to enjoy their camping trip will be very happy at the site `Am kleinen Bach` which is run by Walter. There's a pitch with a swimming pond right outside the front and the eponymous stream flows right past you in the back. Depending on the weather, the host also offers a gravel site for parking to prevent any difficulties of getting out of a muddy meadow. The area which is 30 kilometres away from Stuttgart is ideal for cycling or hiking tours and is particularly impressive with its vineyards which are typical for the area.
15 kilometres away, the beautiful river Necker flows through the area and is definitely worth a visit if you're close. The farm's store offers several types of wine as well as meats from its own production. A ´Besenwirtschaft` also opens its doors to visitors (seasonally). Electricity and running water are both available and laundry can be done if needed. A shower and gray water disposal station add to the comfort. You should definitely sign up for this pitch if you don't want to miss out on an amazing trip.
5. Meadows, fields and amazing views
Our last recommendation is a very special treat for those who love peace and quiet and don't want to bump into any other people or campers on their holidays. For those, Marcus from Obersontheim gladly provides his meadows as a camping site. There's only meadows and nature as far as the eye can reach - a real highlight we'd say. The only things missing on this site are water & electricity but that shouldn't be a problem for experienced campers and worth the peace and quiet you get to enjoy here. Those who dare to visit the area southeast of Stuttgart will be rewarded with an ideal starting point for cycling as well as hiking routes. Another real eye-catcher is the town of Schwäbisch Hall (yes, just like the building society). This town is particularly known for its beautiful half-timbered buildings which revives the memory of old times. The nearest supermarket and bakery are a bit further away but this shouldn't be a surprise as the campsite lies in the middle of nowhere.
Of course, this is only a small excerpt from our research on the best private campsites in and near Stuttgart. If you do your own search you can definitely find some other highlights as well. We can recommend sites like alpacacamping.de or easycamp.de to find more insider tips about pitches and parking spaces. Private pitches are of course the dream of every traveller in search of his very own piece of happiness. We hope that you could find some useful tips here!
