The most beautiful private camping sites near Munich
Article from Elinor
Not in the mood for crowded campsites? We'll show you a collection of the most beautiful private campsites around Munich!
Maybe you've been in this situation before: the camper is packed, all your fellow travellers are on board and after a more or less long journey you finally arrive at the campsite - which is already completely overcrowded.
This scenario sounds all too familiar to you? You're not alone. Year after year, overcrowded campsites are the ultimate mood killer when camping. It's understandable: you're looking forward to an idyllic holiday in the countryside and instead you get long queues in front of the sanitary facilities and the sight of hundreds of sweaty bodies around the clock. It's an incredibly annoying and frustrating problem but fortunately there's a solution that is as simple as it is ingenious. It's called: private camping pitches!
We have searched for the most beautiful private camping sites for your camper holiday. And you don't even have to travel to faraway countries to find them. You can find a lot of beautiful camping sites in southern Germany and one thing can be revealed in advance: You will be impressed!
Our top 3 campsites near Munich
The area around Munich has a lot to offer in terms of beauty and camping sites close to nature. We have selected the most beautiful sites - only the best for you.
1. Mountain views and ultimate peace and quiet at Sebastian's in Grönenbach
There are three private camping pitches at Sebastian's in Grönenbach. Those who camp in this secluded dreamlike place, for example in the beautiful orchard, will get to enjoy a breathtaking mountain view, a fireplace for cosy campfire evenings which is available on the site, as well as sanitary facilities including a washing machine and shower, a lounge and function room, drinking water and electricity - just about everything your heart desires!
There's also a small vegetable garden on the farm and a well-stocked organic food shop in the village not far from the camping pitch. Going to a restaurant or shopping in the regular supermarket is also a possibility.
The area offers many different activities - if you're into biking, hiking, water sports or agricultural adventure holidays you will definitely get your money's worth with our campsite tip!
By the way: dogs are welcome on the campsite upon request!
2. Cow-watching in the meadow at Michael's in Scheuring
If you are as fascinated by cows as I am then Michael's campsite in Scheuring is the right place for you. Michael offers a quiet campsite in a meadow next to the farm with a view of the cow's pasture - the ideal campsite for all the animal-loving nature fans among us!
As if the cows weren't reason enough to settle down for a while at this campsite, there are several other positive aspects: Barbecue facilities, a fire bowl, firewood, charcoal, chairs, electricity, drinking water and toilet access are provided by the campsite, albeit occasionally for a small fee.
If you want to get away from the campsite for a while there are plenty of things to do in and near Scheuring. Neither the ruins of Haltenberg nor the popular tourist destination of Kaltenberg Castle are far away. If you should long for the hustle and bustle of the city Landsberg and Augsburg are within easy reach. In addition, the area around the camping pitches is ideal for hiking and biking - so you definitely won't get bored here.
During opening hours, you can buy all the groceries you need in the farm shop. If you're running late, there's a 24-hour vending machine and a small corner shop or bakery in the village.
Pets are also welcome at the campsite upon request.
3. Relax in nature at Michael's in Altmannstein
Spending a holiday without electricity?! What may sound daunting to many at first when camping can actually be very beneficial. Michael rents out three camper pitches on his farm in the eastern part of the Altmühltal Nature Park in the countryside. You won't find electricity on the pitches but you will find orchards, lovingly kept bees and a lot of hospitality which also applies to dogs travelling with you on the whole site. In addition, a fireplace with firewood, seating, water and sanitary facilities are available to you during your stay.
The East Bavarian Way of St. James, the Limes Trail and the Via Raetica are all very close to the campsite which is why long-distance hikers can often to be found in this region. The Danube breakthrough and Weltenburg Monastery are nearby and are definitely worth a visit! In general, the area is very suitable for hiking and biking and on the farm you can experience responsible and sustainable agriculture first hand. Definitely worth a trip!
Unfortunately, there are no shopping facilities in the village itself but there are several in the more distant villages - a small disadvantage that you have to accept for a wonderful stay in the middle of nature. And luckily you can take the camper if you want to go shopping.
